What an international move actually costs
Every mover quotes after a survey, so the honest answer is a range, and most online estimators hide that behind one confident number. This one shows the range, the cost lines behind it, and the customs rule that decides whether you pay duty at the other end.

Health cover between two countries. The insurance line above covers your belongings in transit, not you. Moving usually means a gap between leaving one health system and joining the next, and nomad policies are built for exactly that window. This one is monthly and can start before you arrive. It is travel medical cover, not a substitute for the local insurance a residence permit may require.

Transport is the shipment volume multiplied by a per cubic metre band derived from published mover price ladders on each corridor, floored at the minimum charge below which movers will not run the job. Packing is an uplift on the transport line, insurance a percentage of declared value, storage a rate per cubic metre per month, and customs clearance a flat brokerage band. Peak season and flexible dates apply to the whole estimate.
Home size bands span British and Turkish conventions rather than averaging them: movers in the two countries size the same flat differently, and pretending otherwise would make the estimate look precise while being wrong. Two earlier drafts of this dataset were rejected in verification for citations that did not hold up on the pages they named; only figures confirmed on their source page are published here.
METHOD. Every figure below was read off a page I fetched in this session; nothing is quoted from a search-results summary. Where a page publishes a home-size price ladder rather than a per-m3 rate, the per-m3 band is derived as (lowest published price / its highest volume) to (highest published price / its lowest volume), which is why the bands are wide - that is the honest envelope, not false precision. Where two sources disagreed I widened rather than averaged. FX. Converted at approximately AED 1 = EUR 0.236, GBP 1 = EUR 1.18, USD 1 = EUR 0.87, from mid-August 2026 mid-market rates (EUR/AED ~4.24, GBP/AED ~5.00). These are approximate and should be re-pulled at calculation time; every AED and GBP source figure is also given in its original currency so the conversion can be redone. CONFIDENCE FLAGS TO SURFACE IN THE UI. - UAE to Turkey is the weakest row and is flagged "estimate". No page fetched publishes a door-to-door per-m3 household band in that direction. It is built from a published backhaul full-truck rate (Sayginlar: Dubai to Turkey 5,500 USD versus Istanbul to Dubai 6,800 USD, so roughly a 15-20% backhaul discount), a published LCL per-CBM band (AGL, Nov 2025), and published sea transit (Reef: 18-30 days). Show a wider disclaimer on this route. - United Kingdom to Turkey is "derived" but leans on MoverDB, whose page was last updated 15 May 2026 yet whose rate table self-labels as June 2024 - about 26 months old. It is used only as a port-to-port container floor,
